Dentin Abrasion
An ADA recommended procedure for determination of dentifrice abrasivity was performed comparing the Oral B Sensitive brush with a TiFinity toothbrush with titanium alloy bristles. The two toothbrushes tested were not significantly different from each other. In addition, both were slightly less abrasive to dentin when used in conjunction with the reference abrasive than the ADA reference toothbrush. This study indicates that the TiFinity Toothbrush would be no more abrasive to dental hard tissues than a conventional toothbrush with nylon bristles.

Interproximal Access Efficacy (IAE)
Comparing TiFinity bristle technology against Sonicare Elite (model e9650)… Interproximal Access Efficacy or the ability of the toothbrush bristles to clean between teeth, has been evaluated with a laboratory method which uses pressure sensitive paper covered with artificial plaque wrapped around simulated anterior and posterior teeth with both horizontal and vertical brushing motions. Twenty-four tests on each toothbrush group were conducted and results statistically analyzed. When data from individual tests are combined to give an overall IAE value, the TiFinity toothbrush has a significantly (p<0.001) higher interproximal acce ss mean than the Sonicare Elite product.
