Gum disease
A silent epidemic.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 40% of adults aged 30 and over have gum disease, and the CDC expects this number to keep growing. Many don't even know they have it.

Why it matters beyond your mouth
Inadequate plaque removal can lead to deeper periodontal "pockets", the onset of gingivitis and gum disease. Beyond the pain of tooth decay and tooth loss, gum disease can be an underlying contributor to heart disease, diabetes and neurological disorders.
Oral health conditions are often considered separate from other chronic conditions, but they are actually inter-related.
How it progresses
From healthy to periodontitis
Drag the slider or pick a stage to see how gum disease develops when plaque isn't removed.
Healthy gums
Firm, pink gum tissue fits snugly around the tooth. Plaque is removed before it can harden, and the pocket between tooth and gum stays shallow.
Gingivitis
Plaque left at the gum line irritates the gums. They turn red, swell and may bleed when you brush. At this stage the damage is usually reversible with thorough cleaning and professional care.
Periodontal disease
Plaque hardens into tartar and spreads below the gum line. The gum pulls away from the tooth, forming deeper pockets where bacteria thrive, out of reach of ordinary nylon bristles.
Periodontitis
The infection breaks down the gum tissue and bone that hold the tooth in place. Teeth can loosen and may eventually be lost, and the inflammation can affect your overall health.

Our solution
Remove plaque where it hides.
Thorough oral hygiene protects against gum disease. That means regularly removing plaque from every dental surface, including between teeth and at and below the gum line.
With very few exceptions, toothbrushes with nylon bristles are ineffective at cleaning between teeth and below the gum line. Flossing helps, but it is no better than nylon bristles at removing plaque.
- The TiFinity Plaque Buster Toothbrush with FLOSSING BRISTLES® is a manual toothbrush with a unique, patented bristle technology that strips away plaque and cleans between and around teeth (360°).
- Regular brushing with TiFinity penetrates up to 6X deeper under the gums than nylon-bristled manual or power toothbrushes, helping to clean away bacteria.
- Preliminary results from an ongoing clinical study show unprecedented efficacy in overall, interproximal (between teeth) and subgingival (below the gum line) plaque removal, simply from normal brushing.
Regular use of TiFinity helps promote strong, healthy gums. That means better checkups, less expensive dental visits and improved overall health.
